Ceramics

During the summer of 2018 I started to make ceramic forms.  These pieces are hand formed through pinching and slab construction.  Their surfaces are decorated with impressions and drawings from other prints, weaving a connection between the two dimensional and three dimensional aspects of my work.  The story I’ve invented for these pieces calls to the individual, and the necessity that ceramic ware fills in establishing, or re-establishing community.  Bowls to eat from, cups to drink from, forms to store things in.  In contrast to the large ephemeral installations that also feature in my work, ceramics offer an incredibly durable material.  These small intimate ceramic forms tell a tale that is from and for the individual.

Pieces range in size from 3" tall to 12" tall.  All are high fired to cone 10 in reduction in gas fired kilns.
