Prints
Printmaking has been a cornerstone of my work for years. My work has utilized screenprinting, relief, intaglio, lithography, letterpress, and digital approaches at different times for different projects. For me each print process has something unique that it offers an idea. While my work is primarily image based I think of each media that I utilize as capable of telling a different part of a larger story. Each project, often defined by a certain technique, develops a logic that serves as a guiding point.
Early on I worked in screenprinting developing images focused on landscapes. These prints would eventually develop into larger wheat pasted installations, which in turn lead to the series "Future Blueprints" and "Unfinished Sculptures". Over the past few years I've found myself developing my work as specific series of projects. This helps me define their role in the larger arc of my work. The variety of approaches lets me continue to investigate the major themes in my work: memory, history, collecting, and narrative, while allowing for new perspectives, both formal and conceptual, to become part of the story. Regardless of the paths my work takes, I've always found printmaking as the best place for my work to start.
Below are several earlier pieces that were important to the development of later works, which are broken out into specific groups.
